Having had the opportunity to witness the Sardine Run for the last couple of years, I can now understand why it is known as the “Greatest Shoal on Earth”. The Sardine Run is an absolute mind blowing experience.

The Sardine Run occurs between June and July when billions of Sardines spawn in the cool waters of the Agulas Bank and move northward along the east coast of South Africa followed closely by a squadron of sea birds, sharks, dolphins and fish all eager to feed on the abundance of food suddenly available to them.
